Stampede over Titans
The Superior Stampede (5-2)(5-1) trampled the defending Mid-America Football League champion Twin Cities Titans, 58-8 Saturday at Ole Haugsrud Memorial Stadium, moving one step closer to a #1 seed in the forthcoming MFL playoffs. The offense was led by RB Kevin Guillory (14 carries 117 yards, 3 TD's), FB Joe Dupree (10 carries 43 yards 3 TD's), & QB Michael Spriggs
(7/14 151 yards 1 TD 1 INT). WR Jared Murray led the receivers with 3 catches for 69 yards. Defensively, the Stampede sacked the Titans QB six times, forced 4 INT's, forced two fumbles, & scored their 5th defensive TD of the season. DB Courtney Walters led the charge with 5 tackles, 2 INT's, and 1 TD. Other standout defensive players included DE Dan Turcotte, Jr. (3 tackles, 1 sack, & 3 pass deflections), LB James Olson (9 tackles 1 sack), & LB Nathaniel Coward (6 tackles 1 sack 1 forced fumble). The Stampede travel to Des Moines, Iowa to take on the Iowa Threshers on 8/19.
