The 1st year Superior Stampede landed five 2006 Minor League Football News Central Region All-American selections, as announced by MLFN. They are:

RB Kevin Guillory (UMD) 2006 MFL Player of the Year-1st team
DE Dan Turcotte, Jr. (Vermilion Community College)-1st team
OL Garnet Asmundson (Mayville State University)-2nd team
LB Nick Farrell (UMD)-2nd team
CB Courtney Walters (Friends University)-2nd team

**Farrell & Asmundson were named for the second consecutive season
**Turcotte will play for UW-Stevens Point in 2007 & Asmundson has retired after 12 seasons.

Stampede Sign a 2-yr. Extension with The Fan!

The Superior Stampede have signed a two-year contract extension with The Fan 560 WEBC radio. The deal goes through the 2008 season and covers all Stampede games, both home and away. All games will be broadcast via wireless remote, thus not requiring stadium phone lines. Stampede Director of Operations/Head Coach Terry Fawcett said, " We are grateful to the management at The Fan, to our play-by-play announcer Brian Dennish, and to the MFL coaches (pre-game interviews) who all play a part of ensuring that the high-calibur teams of the MFL are represented regionally on radio."

Metrodome Bowl Weekend!

The 2006 Bowl weekend at the HHH Metrodome is sure to be a great one!

This year there are 3 outstanding games to watch: the MFL/All American Bowl, the USA Bowl and the NorStar Bowl.

Tickets are $10.00 dollar (12U Free) and can be purchased on game day at gate D, Parking is free in the Metrodome east side parking lot.


Saturday December 9th Games

At 12:05 PM Mid-America Football League’s All American Bowl
The All American Bowl in its twelfth year is designed to bring together the best of the nations top Division II/III College All Star and the MFL top Free Agent Semi-pro Players.

At 3:05 PM the 3A/2A American Football Rules USA Bowl Championship game between the two local league Champions: the Midwest Pioneers, Champions of the MFL at (10-2) take on the GPFL Champion Rochester Giants (8-0) in a game for Minnesota Bragging Rights.

At 6:05 PM the Twin Cities (Minneapolis) Lumberjacks (6-4) begin a new rivalry against and old MFL nemesis: the mighty Racine Raiders (12-3) in the NorStar Bowl.


All American Bowl Highlights


The All American Bowl in its twelfth year is designed to bring together the best of the nations top Division II/III College All Star and the MFL top Free Agent Semi-pro Players.

The All American Bowl is proud to announce that Bill Danenhauer, Head Coach from Dana College (Blair, Nebraska), and his coaching staff will be taking on the role of coaching the College Stripes all star team. Coach Danenhauer is in his fourth year as head coach of the Vikings. He began working at Dana College as offensive coordinator in 2001, and was promoted to assistant head coach in 2002. Coach Danenhauer also serves as athletic director of Dana College.
The former NFL and USFL player was an all-conference tackle at the University of Nebraska-Omaha in 1980. Danenhauer played for the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Baltimore Colts during his NFL career and for the Boston Breakers in the USFL. Danenhauer coached at the collegiate level at Washburn University in Topeka, Kan., and St. Cloud State University in St. Cloud, Minn. Coaching Staff: Chad Baldwin, Allen Friesen, Anthony Kerr, Ross Jensen, Scott Guzinski, Rod Stuehm

On the Stars sideline, coaching the Mid-America League All Stars will be MFL 2006 Coach of the Year Nate Heiser; Paul Anderson, and Terry Fawcett.

Coach Heiser has head coached two consecutive MFL Championships teams: the Twin Cities Titans in 2005 and the Midwest Pioneers in 2006. As a player, Coach Heiser became one of the first division II All Conference selections for
Concordia University-St. Paul; he continued his career by playing in the MFL for the Minnesota Maulers. Soon after his playing career was complete he began coaching at the high school and semi-pro levels. This is Coach Hieser’s fourth year as an MFL football coach.
-Paul Anderson is in currently in his second year as head coach of the Winona/La Crosse Rough Riders.
-Terry Fawcett is completing his first year as head coach of the Superior Stampede and 12th year in the MFL.

ESPN Magazine Academic All-District IV
QB Jason Vrable leads the College All-Stars in All American Bowl
Marietta's Jason Vrable (South Park, Pa.) closed out his career by moving into sixth place on the OAC's single-season passing attempts list (375) and ninth on its single-season passing yards list (2,845). Vrable, the single-season and career record holder in every Pioneer passing category, finished the year by completing 12-of-33 passes and throwing for 173 yards. He had one touchdown and a pair of interceptions. For the season, Vrable went 202-of-375 (.539) and threw for 2,845 yards with 20 touchdowns and 15 interceptions. In his career, he completed 495-of-902 passes for 6,102 yards and 41 touchdowns.

The offensive captain lead the Ohio Athletic Conference in passing yards (fourth in the nation) and total offense. He has completed 190-of-342 passes and thrown for 2,672 yards and 19 touchdowns in 2006 and is 483-of-869 with 5,929 yards passing and 40 TD passes in his career.
Off the field, he maintains a solid grade point average as an athletic training major. Vrable, a 2005 Academic All-OAC honorable mention award winner, is also an active member of the Marietta College Student Athletic Trainers Organization.

Joe Danielson, UW-Platteville, Senior, Wide Receiver, 6-6, 215, Oregon, Ill. caught 54 passes for 969 yards and 7 touchdowns. His 969 yards led the league and were the third most in Pioneer history. He also ranked second in receptions per game with 5.4.
